Five Trends We Love

It’s funny how life gets in the way and suddenly months have flown by. I guess that’s my excuse for my delay in posts. I recently got a job at a local clothing store (Cheeky Peach) and its taken up a lot of my time. But being surrounded by clothes has reignited my passion for fashion. Hence the return of the blog and now we are back for good (hopefully).

For those of you who don’t know, I am in love with cold weather. Maybe its because I master layers more efficiently than any other style or because I can rock a sweater. So when fall fashion week comes around each year I get overly excited. I’ve been rocking so many great trends this season its hard to keep my love all to myself:

1. Laced up BootsPicture 6

If there is one item I can label as “my thing” it would be boots. I have an extensive (an continuously growing) collection. And this season I added my first pair of lace up boots. I will admit I was skeptical about the lace up boot trend but once I tried it I became hooked. They add the perfect amount of edge to any outfit.

#2. Fun Fabulous SweatersPicture 7

Nothing says cold weather like a cozy sweater. And this year sweaters have been given a fun twist. Whether its a heart shaped elbow patch or a disheveled edging, We are loving this seasons sweaters with attitude.

#3. Oversized TopsImage

This year we traded out our summer crop tops for falls oversized top trend. This trend is great for fashion lovers like myself who, like a bear, tend to like the figure go during the winter. Not only are these tops extremely comfortable they also are very flattering for all shapes and sizes.

#4. Tribal PiecesImage

Stores have been stocked with pieces composed of tribal patterns or with tribal inspiration. When I first saw them I wasn’t impressed but as I’ve tried mixing and matching this pieces I’ve come to love the bold statements they make. They are a great way to spice up your wardrobe whether with a colorfully printed cardigan or a bold sweater.

What trends are you currently lusting after?

Summer Must-Haves

Today marks the end of week two of my summer and what have I done (besides blogging): Look for a job and be sick for a week. Not exactly an ideal summer break. The only upside is I got to be reunited with the best friend and boyfriend (briefly). So in order to get me in a summery mood and in hopes of getting some good summer mojo I’ve decided to give you guys my top summer must-haves for this season.

Bag It!

{H&M Bag, H&M Bag}

A beach bag is essential for the summer but an important characteristic for my bag is versatility. I want a bag that can be worn on and off the beach. Straw accessories have been really big this season and these two straw bags from H&M are my favorite. They are big enough to fit everything you need for a day on the beach yet would look super cute paired with a summer dress. I’d love to use either of these bags for a summer picnic or barbeque.

Adorn Your Bathing Suit

{Bahama Necklace, Blu Bijoux Necklace}

I’ve talked before about how much I love the idea of accessorizing your bathing suit. And what is beachier then accessorizing with beach-themed jewelry? I love these two necklaces with their different shell charms. When paired with a bathing suit it’ll look incredibly stylish. Or mermaid chic as I’d like to call it.

Tame Your Mains

{H&M Hat, H&M Flower, H&M Headband}

What I love most about summer is letting your hair go au natural. It’s ok to let your locks run wild and free. But sometimes (especially at the beach or pool) you just want them out of your face. These three pieces are perfect for taming your hair while still keeping with the summer and beach theme.

Cover-Up In Disguise

{Topshop Cover-up}

As you probably know versatility is KEY to me. So what I want most out of my cover-up is something that looks chic on the beach and off the beach. This peach cover-up from Topshop does just that. It has a long flowy Grecian feel that is perfect for long walks on the beach but it can easily paired with bangles and wedges for a great dinner outfit.

Here’s to hoping my summer gets better and your summer stays amazing!

Put a Hat on it…

{Vogue February 1952 courtesy of}

I’ve never been a hat person. The only hat I’ve ever worn is a baseball hat and that’s only to sporting events or when my hair is untamable.  But lately I’ve become completely obsessed with hats, like I need another form of accessory to be addicted to.  It originally started with the Royal Wedding and the Kentucky Derby fueled it.

But when I saw Vogue’s collection of iconic images of hats from Vogue through the years, it made my love go from a fascination to a full on obsession.

I love how hats just polish off your outfit. I’m really want a great vintage hat. I loved how elegant the women at the Royal wedding looked and I’d love to have a hat (or two) to add some elegance to an ensemble.  Here are my must-have hats:

  1. Forever 21 Fancy Chains Basketweave Hat: Love this hat for the beach
  2. Nordstrom ‘Summer” Straw Cloche Hat (in Red and Natural): The straw makes it perfect for summer yet it’s still refined.
  3. ModCloth Think Summer Hat: The floral is perfect for spring.
  4. H&M Straw Hat: This classic boater hat (when styled right) can polish off any ensemble
  5. River Island Cloche Hat with Bow: Love the refined and demure look of this hat.
  6. ZARA Leopard Print Trilby: I love leopard print so ofcourse I want to embrace it in a hat.
  7. ASOS Lace Trilly Hat: I love how this hat is so one of a kind.
  8. Nordstrom Two Tone Fedora: I love the color and how the bow makes the fedora look classier.
  9. TopShop Natural Straw Squashed Bow Floppy Hat: Everyone needs a big floppy hat.

What do you think of hats? Love ‘em or Hate ‘em?

Must-Have Wedges

What better way to welcome in spring then with a pair of wedges? I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the survival of winter than to switch out your boots for a pair of this season’s stylish wedges. Wedges are the perfect footwear for spring. They go great with any outfit whether it be for a more formal occasion or just a casual lunch with the girls. This season you can find a wide variety of stylish wedges from patterned wedges to color-block wedges to more classic, traditional styles. These eight must-have wedges are a great addition to your spring wardrobe.

  1. Knotted Espadrille Wedges from Forever 21 $24.80
  2. Denim Wedge Heel Shoe from ZARA $90.00
  3. Patterned Canvas Platform Wedge from H&M $29.99
  4. Stefanie Spring Wedge from Forever 21 $27.80
  5. FORWOOD Wedge in turquoise from Aldo $90.00
  6. Fantastik Wedge in Khaki by Steve Madden from $79.99
  7. Strappy Snakeskin Cork Wedge from Charlotte Russe $32.50
  8. ASOS PANDORA Color-Block Platform Wedge from ASOS $89.65

Spring Break Must-Haves (for girls and guys!)

Spring break is quickly approaching which means fairly soon beaches across America will be packed full of crazy college students looking to have a good time. Whether you will be spending this break in the ‘Sin City’ of spring break vacation spots, Panama City Beach, or if your like me and rather spend your break at a less crowded more relaxing beach, there are a few must-haves that are essential for any spring breaker (guy or girl).

  1. Sunglasses: I recommend leaving the designer shades at home and pack these less expensive but still stylish ASOS’s pair.
  2. Sandals: Think cute and comfortable (and water proof) like these Alloy espadrilles.
  3. Bathing Suit: I recommend bringing a couple patterned ones and then some basic ones so you can mix and match. This AE black bikini is simple but sexy.
  4. Cover-Up: I love the fabric and color of this TopShop cover-up.
  5. Beach Bag: This floral bag is cute, yet will fit all your beach needs.
  6. Sunscreen: Necessary! This Clinique spray sunscreen dries quickly without leaving you greasy.
  7. Going out dress: This fun, and sexy. Like this sweet, but sultry H&M dress.
  8. Maxi-dress: Maxi dresses (like this Forever21 one) are perfect for long walks on the beach.
  9. Sweater: This is a must-have as temperatures drop at night. Try this AE comfy sweater.
  10. Hat: This straw fedora is super cheap but super cute. It’d look great with beachy waves.

  1. Sunglasses: Find a pair that fits your style but leave the designer shades at home. With all the action you’ll be doing on the beach, you’re bound to drop or break them. Try these aviators or these classic pair.
  2. Beach shoes: They don’t have to be sandals. These boat shoes work great for the beach too.
  3. Bathing suit: Have fun with it like this colored bathing suit.
  4. Beach bag: This backpack has a rugged feel but will fit all you need for a great day at the beach.
  5. Sunscreen: This Jack Black sunscreen is perfect for guys. It’s not greasy but still sweatproof.
  6. Nice shirt: When you hit the town with the guys you’ll need something nice to impress the ladies. So try this button-down shirt.
  7. Jacket: This is a must-have as temperatures drop at night. Try this stripped H&M jacket.
  8. Hat: Try this woven hat or have fun with this sailor-inspired hat.

Must Have Statement Necklaces

Statement necklaces are like the LBD of jewelry. They are an essential piece in every fashionable woman’s closet. They are perfect for taking a simple ensemble to the next level. They key for a good statement necklace is the bolder the better. Statement necklaces are meant to, well, make a statement. So don’t be shy when purchasing one: go for bright colors and bold designs.

Ensemble #1: Pair a simple coral dress with this fun necklace from Topshop and a pair of taupe suede heels.

Ensemble #2. For a simple ‘out to lunch’ look pair this feathery necklace with basic black top, skinny jeans and a pair of black wedged gladiator sandals.

Ensemble #3: I’m loving this long sheer maxi dress and these cork heels. Pair it with this turquoise necklace for an extra “Oomph”.

We’re Talking About Nails

I love getting my nails done. Who doesn’t? I love being able to get quality painted nails while I sit back and do nothing. It’s easy and relaxing, two things that are perfect if you’re lazy (as I tend to be). Yet, salon quality nails come at a price and that price is not cheap. But I have a solution: Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nails. You can get the look of salon nails, without sacrificing time or money.

Must-Have Winter Products

They are some great aspects of winter: everything blanketed in snow, hot chocolate, ice skating, reading by the fire, snow ball fights, snow men. You get the gist. But there are also some bad aspects when it comes to beauty. I’m sure you all know what I’m talking about. Dry skin, dry hair, dry lips, dry everything. So to prevent these winter side effects we must crank our beauty regimen up.  To do this here are some great beauty products and tips to keep your body in great shape even in the winter cold and wind.

The key to keeping your face from becoming dry and flaky is LOTS of moisturizer. Be sure to moisturize every morning and night. Make sure to remove make-up as soon as you get home. Wearing make-up too long will only dry out your face more.

  1. AVEENO Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturizer $14.99– My personal facial moisturizer. Soothes/calms dry and irritated skin while reducing redness.

Winter weather also takes moisture out of your body. So slab moisturizer on your skin directly after your shower and take warm (not hot) showers. Hot water only dries out your skin more. For your hands and feet, put moisturizer on them and cover them with socks every night before bed to lock in moisture.

  1. AVEENO Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion $12.00– Helps with five symptoms of winter skin (dryness, discomfort, flaking, roughness, itchiness)
  2. Jergens Shea Butter Skin Enriching Cream $3.99– Transforms skin into radiantly soft skin as well as making your skin smell great.

From winter wind to hair dryers to straightners, your hair is bound to suffer. To help heal your hair your key is CONDITIONER. Use it daily as well as rinsing your hair with cold water. Hot water dries out your hair and cold water will add shine to it.  A moisturizing hair masque is another great way to add moisture to your hair. I recommend limiting your use of heated hair-styling products because they will only dry out your hair more.

  1. Pantene Medium to Thick Dry to Moisturized Conditioner $4.99– I love this moisturizer it makes my hair silky smooth.
  2. Frizz-Ease Reinforce Strengthening Triple Crème Masque $14.99 This moisturizing masque is great for fixing split ends, dryness and breakage.
  3. Bumble and Bumble De-Frizz $25.00– Frizz is another winter hair problem but this product eliminated all frizz.

My least favorite winter side effect is dry lips. This is my personnel hell. I hate chapped lips, cracked lips or just plain and simple dry lips. But these can all be prevented, its plain and simple- lip balm, chapstick, and lip moisturizer. The best thing you can do is apply it at night so your lips absorb the most moisture before being exposed.

  1. Original Carmex Tube $3.00– I love Carmex. It is perfect for preventing and heeling dry lips. It makes my lips kissable.
  2. Smashbox Emulsion Lip Exfoliant $18.00– A lip exfoliant is a must have for dry, flaking lips. This exfoliant not only exfoliates but also conditions. Plus it smells yummy.

Must-Have Bags

What’s topping my list this holiday season: bags, bags and BAGS! Yes I’ve become obsessed with growing my bag collection. I’ve been spending most of my time keeping up with bag trends, shopping for steals on designer bags and online shopping for the perfect taupe bag (which I found and I’m hoping I will find under my Christmas tree on the 25th). So I thought I’d share my findings with you.

Now when shopping for bags I tend to want versatility out of my purses. I like having maybe one or two bold bags but when it comes to the bulk of my purses I want a purse I can wear with everything and a purse I will have for a while. So here are a few tips for bag shopping:

  1. Trends save don’t splurge! Trends come and go so when it comes to buying the latest purse trend don’t invest. Save your money you can find purses that look almost identical for 1/4th the cost of designer bags. So you get the look you want without breaking the bank.
  2. Keep colors neutral. Neutral colors mean more versatility. While I did recently fall in love with an ASOS faux croc yellow bag, I can get more use out of a tan or black bag.
  3. Invest in classic styles. Basic classic bags can last you years so it wouldn’t be a waste to put a little more money into those.

Here are my must-have bags for winter and even spring (if you shop correctly):
