Summer Staples: Hamptons Style with Sorelle In Style

Meet this weeks Guest Bloggers Sorelle in Style:

Ciao, bellas. We are le sorelle. In true sisterly fashion, we share laughter, we share stories, we share secrets, and, of course we share (or, more truthfully, steal) each others clothes. and now we’re sharing it all with you. because after all, “what’s the good of news if you haven’t a sister to share it?” Our blog is our ongoing conversation – we hope you’ll join in!

We have been fortunate enough to spend every summer of our lives in the Hamptons. And this summer, thankfully, is no exception!  When eastbound, we tend to cram as much as we can into the tiniest of suitcases, for one never knows what a Hamptons day will bring! Laid-back by day and glamorous by night, Hamptonites are one stylish bunch. So whether you’re heading out east, or just heading away for the weekend, we’ve got you covered with our suitcase essentials for some fun in the sun!

The Hamptons is home to some of the world’s most famous beaches, so any trip out east will undoubtedly include some surf and sand. A carryall beach tote is a must-have (and can actually double as extra space for all of those last-minute-packing items). Tory Burch, a Hamptonite herself, boasts a fabulous selection for the fashion-conscious. Our tip: opt for a solid color or more neutral shade, so as not to clash with your patterned swimsuits.

While destroyed denim is sometimes spotted on Hamptons sidewalks, we recommend a more classic, tailored short to keep you polished for a day of shopping (and trust us, there will be shopping…). Zara offers up an array of colors and styles to show off your newly-tanned gams. Our tip: in keeping with this season’s trends, opt for a brighter color or subtle print (think J. Crew).

Many beach days quickly turn into nights out on the town, so when choosing a cover-up, choose wisely, as it could ultimately end up your frock for the evening! James Perse features a summer line in fabrics light enough to wear beachside, yet thick enough so as to mask any undergarments (like, say, your bikini top!) underneath. Our tip: a maxi dress is universally flattering, and adds height to any frame

Flip-flops are a given for a day at the beach, but make sure you pack a pair of neutral wedges (in your beach tote, of course!) for a seamless transition to the evening hours. Wedges in a neutral shade will not only complement any ensemble, they will also make your legs look longer and leaner! (Trust us on this one ). Our tip: opt for a wedge with a less-extreme arch (or perhaps full-out flatform, if you’re so daring) if you plan on wearing them throughout your entire trip so as to save your feet from discomfort.

Sheer tops have been adorning the torsos of the most beloved fashionistas this season. Follow suit and pair with a neutral (or bright!) camisole underneath for a look that will keep you comfortable and cool. Once again, Zara is a go-to for a wide-array of styles (and colors) of figure-friendly, flattering tops. Our tip: Best worn with colored shorts, or colored denim skinnies. (If you opt for a colored top, white pants are preferred!)

To tie together your look, we suggest going bold with your jewelry. Over-sized gems and turquoise hues always earn points with us, and this H&M necklace earns double for its unbeatably low price. Be sure to pack your jewels (be it necklace, bracelet, earrings, or ring) alongside your wedges for another outfit boost should you find yourself with no time to change for dinner.

So there you have it! These items (and much, much more) will certainly be buried in our suitcases as we head out east this summer. Now all we can hope for is sunshine and clear skies! Wherever this season takes you, you’ll now be ready in style – we hope you have a fabulous time!
